Buying a new mattress is an important decision, and given the options available is one that can take time.
At UKBedsOnline.com we understand how confusing the options can be and are here to help with your selection and purchase.
Comfort
The biggest factor in choosing the right mattress for you will be Comfort. This choice is completely down to personal preference.
One important point to remember is that the firmer the mattress is, does not necessarily mean the best night’s sleep! Mattresses are constructed using many different spring options andor many different materials.

The Price
When choosing a mattress it is important to remember that most mattresses last for up to 10 years and come with a Manufacturer’s Guarantee. Every £100 you spend on a mattress equates to roughly 2.7p a night over a 10 year period. A mattress can cost up to £3000 and the average spend is approximately about £800.
All our online prices are often heavily reduced from normal RRP. We aim to keep our online business as cost effective as possible to enable us to pass on massive savings to you, the Customer.
When making your selection, please remember that all our mattresses are made up and shipped directly from the manufacturers. All purchases are delivered Free to England and Wales. Unless otherwise stated we do not sell any shop soiled or seconds.
Choosing a Mattress to suit a Bedstead or Divan Base
If you are choosing a mattress to suit an existing bedsteadbed frame or divan base, you will find all our mattresses suitable for this purpose.
However, please ensure you measure the base to ensure your new mattress size will be suitable. You will need to allow approx half an inch leeway.

Mattress Construction in more detail
Continuous Coil
This is the cheapest type of bed mattress, made from a single looped wire. At UKBedsOnline.com we normally recommend this option for light use with Single beds.
Open Coil
One step up from continuous coil, often called Bonnell Springs. Open-coil mattresses are made of single springs fixed together by wire.
Pocket Sprung
In these mattresses, the springs are sewn into individual fabric pockets. They provide better support for your body, as each coil absorbs the weight individually. So pocket sprung mattresses are good if you sleep on your side, which puts different pressures on your spine. And if you move around a lot in your sleep, your partner is less likely to feel it.
Dual Pocket Spring System
Two-tier pocket system for superior support. Each spring is sewn into an individual fabric pocket allowing each spring to move independently and respond to the body’s every movement and contour.
Latex Foam
Latex foam is naturally anti-allergenic and also has anti-microbial properties. They are a good choice for the allergy sufferer. Latex foam also inhibits the growth of bacteria and mould.
This type of mattress is increasingly popular in Europe. It is ‘no turn’ mattress and comes in various tensions to offer more choice to the customer.
Memory foam mattress/ memory mattress
Memory Foam was originally developed by NASA for astronauts on space shuttles.
Memory Foam responds to the temperature and weight of the body to shape to the user and recover its original shape after the pressure and temperature has been removed.
This revolutionary foam can be a good option if you’re allergic to house dust mites.
QuiltedPillow ToppedTufted
An added luxury mattress topping option designed to enhance comfort.
There are a variety of additional foam or material options available, ranging from synthetic materials to natural materials.
Advice following Purchase
Once unwrapped, mattresses often have a chemical smell, this is completely normal and usually fades over a period of one week.
We recommend ‘airing’ your mattress once all packaging has been removed for approximately 4 hours before use.
We do recommend turning your mattress at least once every 3 months. Although not essential, this will help keep your mattress structurally sound and help you get a longer life from your mattress.
If you have purchased a ‘No Turn’ mattress, we still recommend turning your mattress at least once a year.
