Lefkada is an island people, living and windy. It is the only island linked to mainland Greece, a swing bridge providing access by road. The airport at Preveza is only 30 minutes away. Lefkada is a short distance along the canal at the point where the channel turns to run SE. The buildings of the city are easily visible and the port is not difficult to locate. There is a marina here or you can use port of the city. Both offer good shelter in all weather conditions. The Lefkas canal enables sailors to pass along the east side of the island, who has the most anchor points. The North Entrance is by locating the Santa Mauro Fort. The canal begins right after Lefkada and is marked by red posts and green and red and green buoys when the channel turns southward.

Nidri is lively, the platform itself provides water, fuel etc, but puts you in the middle bases rental yachts, tour boats, ferries, etc. A little further south, coast Vlikho Bay offers good shelter all around the muddy bottom

At the end south lies the sheltered bay of Sivota with bars along the water and several taverns. On the southwest coast, has Vasiliki dockside bars, cafes and clubs night non-stop. Vassiliki is a sleepy fishing village. It is now one of the islands main resorts Port is located in the southeast of the large bay. It offers good shelter, although the prevailing wind tends to blow into the port to make conditions uncomfortable at times. The bottom holds well. There are no anchors on the west coast, but there are beautiful beaches where you can watch beautiful sunsets.

Also worth a visit any Lefkada: Nirikos The ancient city was the first capital of the island of 2BC. Excavations have shown that Nirikos recorded strong economic growth. The Museum's collection Archaeological findings dating Lefkada includes the proto-Hellenic period to the Roman era, including ceramics, pots, statues, signs, ecclesiastical music and photographs from excavations in Nidri. Lefkata Cap is located in the south of Lefkas and offers a majestic view. Originally, sacrifices to the gods and spirits took place here. The prisoners were forced to skip rocks and try to fly with feathers tied around their bodies. The monastery of Panagia Faneromeni is the largest religious monument on the island. It is located 2 km east of the capital outside Frynio village and lies on the former site of a sanctuary for Artemis or Hera.

Meganissi at the entrance to the magnificent Port Athene Coast north. It is ideal for diving and swimming and does a good overnight stop. Vathi is the islands main port. It's a nice place Relaxing with a good guide through the olive groves to the bay to the east. The village high on Spartohori can easily be seen from the north and west. Once you're in the bay, the small port will be seen. Good shelter, but the depth often exceeds 15 meters. Anchoring near the tavern is the best location in the bay. The village of Spartahori is an absolute must, walk up the hill for a warm welcome and a local view on Nidri, and Skorpios and Madhouri more in the mountains on the mainland to the east. The island has a number of picturesque bays, where you can dock and a line ashore. Facilities are at best limited and often nonexistent

Ithaca – Steeped in the legend of Odysseus of the island has beautiful bays and anchorages attractive. The island is heavily wooded two main peaks rich in flora and fauna, which protrude steeply from the Ionian sea, joined in the center of the island by a thin stretch of land. It offers gentle green plateaus in the limestone of the south and rugged in the north. Frikes is a small port and village in the northeast of Ithaca Located in Bay it was renamed. A lovely place at the bottom of a steep wooded valley. There are several old windmills standing on the rocks above the village. Kioni is located just south of Frikes. The village is beautiful with buildings that dot the steep slopes of the bay. The bottom of the mud and weeds and Care must be taken for maintaining anchorage. Housing is generally good, but there are often gusty northwest. There are shops in the village and taverns by the sea

Farther south, east Vathi, the island's capital and main port. Its red-roofed houses set in enchanting scenery the end of the closed bay of Vathi means deep Molosmeans and that's what you find. The background is a combination of mud and weeds and care is necessary for ensure that the anchor is required. There are many shops and taverns in the city. Three miles north-west lies the Cave of the Nymphs, where, according to legend, Odysseus hid the gifts bestowed upon him by the Phaeacians which surrendered at his home after his many adventures. Bay of Polis, on the west coast, near the village of Stavros, is the site of the cave Loizos. A couple of interesting discoveries were made here: fragments which have were inscriptions testify to the worship of Artemis, Hera and Athena and twelve tripods similar to those given to the Phaeacians Ulysses.

Cephalonia is the largest of the Ionian islands covering about 700 square kilometers. It is renowned for its wine and more recently for the Mandolin Captain Corellixs novel by Louis de Bernieres. For walkers there are acres of forest covered limestone mountains to explore. 10 peaks rising above 5000 feet. The results of limestone in the caves and caverns remarkable as seen in the complex of underground lake Mellisani. Most of the mountains fall steeply the sea and sailing, you'll be at the foot of these mountains, in places it means the boat will be subject to strong winds so care is needed.

Fiskardo is a closed bay and port on the northeastern tip of Cephalonia. It is an extremely popular place for yachts and summer months the platform is normally packed. If there is no place to anchor in the bay and north of a line ashore. The harbor offers good shelter all round. The village is picturesque and was one of the few places on the island that has escaped destruction terrible earthquake of 1953. Where homes 19th century nestled in the pine trees are roughly the original order and preservation of history should keep it that way. There are a number of shops in the village there are some tavernas serving excellent food. There are several anchorages on the coast between Fiskardo and Ay Eufimia south. It was developed after the earthquake and almost all modern buildings. There are good walks along the coast north-east port. Still further south is the small port of Poros. This is not wearing the most comfortable in the Ionian Sea with the prevailing winds in creating a chop port. It is uncomfortable rather than dangerous. Most provisions are available in the village. There are several taverns with a good through the port.

The capital of the island is the Argostoli SW. The earthquake in 1953 have bought almost total devastation, all that remained intact were a couple of houses, the arched bridge extending through the lagoon and the obelisk at its center. Unfortunately, the reconstruction produced a rather soulless place. There are many shops and taverns in the city.

Lixuri is a city with a small port opposite Argostoli on the west side of Kolpos Argostoliou. Unfortunately, the port is located side of the sewer main and is extremely smelly during the summer months. Assos, on the west side of the island, should be used only in calm or when wind is light from the west. There are many taverns in the village and the limited provisions available. The particularly picturesque village is set under the high cliffs and mountains, across the peninsula from Fort ruined Venice.

Zakynthos is the most southernmost island of the Ionian Sea. A horseshoe around a mountain rich and fertile plain. Half of the cultivated land of the island is devoted to the vine of cassis which was originally transplanted from the Peloponnese by the Venetians.

In the north-eastern islands found Ormos Ay Nikolaos. You can anchor in the bay at about 5m depth or go poop outside the breakwater and take a long line ashore. Strong gusts can be expected in the afternoon and most of the yachts leave after lunch and head south of the capital. A visit Caves of Blue is a favorite in this part of the island. Join one of the local Caicos as visiting a yacht is not desirable that the area is not protected from the north westerly winds and deep water at anchor in the underwater rocks are covered by a purple seaweed. Algae with the white sand bottom of the caves reflect incoming sunlight to produce a blue tint.

To the south lies Limin Zakinthos, Zante and it's capital more than 35,000 islanders live here. The city surrounds a large harbor. Once inside the harbor of care is necessary to the semi-sunk stone breakwater that extends from the north mole. Yachts should enable the designated dock in the yacht harbor. Porto Roma is located in the southeast corner of the island. This is a beautiful anchorage in calm weather. There is a tavern on the beach.

The south coast and the beaches are host the last and most important concentration of loggerhead turtle nesting sites in the Mediterranean. From May to November of this area is restricted on access for vessels. It is advisable to check with authorities in the capital what are the restrictions currently in place if you plan navigating in this area. Ormos Keri is located at the west end of the restricted zone. Anchor either side of the stone mole and take a long shore line. Be aware of under ballast protruding from the mole. Ormos VROM is the only anchorage on the west coast of the island. Anchor on the side north and a line ashore.
