Pack Fly Tying

Packing a Suitcase for a Weekend Trip

If you’re heading out of town for just a few days, you probably want to limit the items you bring with you to a carry-on bag. Not only will this save you time in the airport, but it will also help you keep your packing to a minimum. Here are some great tips to help you pack a suitcase with everything you need.

Whether you’re travelling for business or for pleasure, you will want to include one business type outfit – a suit. This should be in a neutral color, like black or gray, as it will coordinate with anything else in your suitcase. Bring a few dress shirts if you have to attend multiple meetings or business engagements. This will give you multiple suit options, without anyone being the wiser. You can always bring different ties and scarves to keep the outfits looking fresh and new.

For your down time, you might want to wear a comfortable outfit on the plane. A nice pair of dark jeans will look good for both casual and for evening casual wear. Pair this with a neutral shirt and a sweater to help add variety to your wardrobe, but not bulk, as you will be wearing this outfit on the place. If the weather is cooler, wear a dress coat onto the plane as well.

Shoes are the one item where everyone gets confused. You want to have different pairs for your outfits, but they easily take up your entire suitcase. What you will want to do is wear your heaviest and biggest shoes when you are on the place. In the case of women with expensive shoes, you might want to wear these on the plane so as to keep them in good shape. Bring with you one pair of casual shoes and one pair of neutral dress shoes that go with your professional outfit. This will help you always coordinate, but also have room left in your suitcase for accessories.

The best plan is to bring clothes of all the same color or the same kinds of colors as they will all match with each other. Of course, you will want to bring more than just all black. On the other hand, you might just want to add color to each outfit with a well-chosen tie or scarf. Women can choose earrings and jewelry to add a new element to their outfit as well.
